Supporting Organizations That Serve Marines & Advance Leadership

The Alabama Marines Foundation accepts grant requests from qualifying organizations that align with our mission to serve Marines and promote military values in Alabama communities.

Who may apply

Eligibility for Foundation Grants

We welcome grant requests from the following groups:

  • Veterans organizations in Alabama that provide goods or services to active duty, reserve, retired, or honorably discharged Marines and immediate family members of Marines living in Alabama or with Alabama listed as their home of record
  • Civic or educational organizations that promote military service ideals and to those that teach leadership, character development, and service-minded values to young men and women
NOTE

Applications are accepted year-round. To be considered during our annual budgeting process, submit your request by the last quarter of the calendar year. Applying earlier gives your organization the best chance to be included in the next fiscal budget.

How to apply

A Two-Step Application Process

To begin, submit by mail or email a preliminary letter that includes the information provided. If your request aligns with our funding priorities and available resources, we’ll invite you to complete a detailed grant application for formal review.

  • A brief overview of your organization and mission
  • Who you serve, with emphasis on Marines or military support
  • Primary funding sources and estimated number of constituents
  • How the requested funds will be used
  • Estimated dollar amount of the request
  • A list of your leadership structure (names/titles of officers and board)
  • A copy of your IRS tax-exempt status letter
  • Any additional supporting materials (promotional flyers, press coverage, etc.)
  • A list of other funders for the same project (if applicable)

What happens next?

If your request aligns with our grant criteria and funding is potentially available:

  1. We’ll send you a formal grant request form to complete.
  2. Once submitted, your application will move into the formal review process.
